Value-added data science
Data has more potential when it works together.

Dr Simon Lam, PhD, AKC
I am a postdoctoral bioinformatician data scientist interested in unlocking the potential of data through value-added analytical approaches.
Research interests
I have worked in numerous biological fields such as cancer, neurodegeneration, evolution, and synthetic biology, applying core principals in all of my work.
- Human genomics in health and disease
- Basic biology and hypothesis-free discovery
- Method, software, and web development

Data approaches
I treat data carefully and deliberately, break down silos, and make science accessible to everyone; always keeping the biology in mind.
- Multi-omics analysis and integration
- Biostatistics and machine learning
- Visual data and democratised exploration

Data are real and so am I. Based in Oxfordshire, I live with my wife Xuemeng. I enjoy games from Black Desert Online to Cook, Serve, Delicious; pass the time with The Birthday Massacre or Adventure Time; and keep fit by cycling through the countryside or going on Beat Saber.
